Bubbly: Epona is one of the most friendly, energetic dogs you’ll ever meet. She loves to make friends and act silly around them! However, her puppy-like nature makes many think she doesn’t take her job on the farm seriously.

Daydreamer: This word is an understatement when describing this dog. When not focused on the task at hand, her head is always up in the clouds. She loves to think about romance and true love, a trait that she gets from her mother. She also hopes to be a mother to her own litter someday, and fears not being loved.

Motherly: Epona spent much of her time as a pup with her mother, and has learned to treat all creatures great and small with gentle, loving care. She is very gently around her master’s young child and around the baby creatures on the farm. Being a “mommy” is one of the jobs she is the most serious about.

Loyal: Even with her daydreaming tendencies and energy, Epona is a dog you can count on to get the job done. She would never betray her friends and masters, and would do anything to keep them safe. She never breaks promises and is always at her friends’ sides.

Modest: Epona is modest, plain and simple. When someone compliments her, her first response is to shy away from the compliment. Her self confidence is average, but she believes these compliments aren’t necessary. She is especially bashful around dogs she’s just met or dogs she “likes”.

Pacifist: Epona does not believe in senseless violence and does everything in her power to avoid it. Tying in with her bashfulness, she is generally submissive around larger, meaner dogs. She’ll do anything not to provoke violence, but if she had to she’d put her own life before that of others.

Sensitive: Even though she is confident about herself most of the time, Epona sometimes finds herself taking things people have said too seriously or the wrong way. She sometimes beats herself up because of things she’s done. She’s very sensitive to critique and often judges herself based on what other dogs think of her.

Pre-Group History:

Epona was born to two dogs who lived and worked on a ranch. Her father, Morgan, spent most of his time working with the cattle, leaving her mother, Clementine, to watch over her and her two brothers. Because she spent so much time with her mother she adopted many behaviors from her, including her motherly personality.

When Epona was about two years old, a new family moved in next doors. They had a dog as well, a handsome Shepherd dog. At first Epona didn’t know what to think of him, having not met any dogs other than the ones on her street, but soon she fell in love with him. The Shepherd seemed to enjoy her company, but after a while things began to fall apart. It started with him being more aggressive around Epona, and eventually led to him snapping at her, giving her the scar she has today. Epona was heartbroken to realize that the Shepherd was not right for her.

Things only got worse from there. Her owners believed that she caused a fight with the other dog, and because of that put her up for adoption. She was forced away from her family because of something she didn’t do. However, not all was lost. The family that adopted her were kind and had a farm of their own. Even better, they had a teenage daughter who was very fond of Epona. So now she resides on a small farm outside of Canidale, missing her family and past lover but hopeful for the future.

• Genetically, she carries liver and tan points. If bred correctly, her puppies may show these colors as well. She also has genes that can result in either a silky, long coat or a plush, double coat, but these depend on the father's genes. She also carries possible curled-over (natural Pembroke), flag (Border) or sabre (ACD) tails.
